Biography

Barnie has been a broadcaster for more than 30 years. He joined the BBC as a trainee in 1986. During that time he was its social affairs, community affairs, world affairs and business correspondent for BBC National News. He left the BBC in 2010 as a news correspondent. He is now the owner of Sensei Creative Productions. Barnie is also a Principal Lecturer at the University of Lincoln. He has a passion for equality and diversity and for the past 2 years has been a lay advisor for the Department of Health’s Equality and Diversity Council. Barnie is also the Chairman of AWAAZ, a South-Asian mental health charity.
